The Rumie Initiative is a nonprofit organization and a Canadian registered charity. It delivers free, digital learning content to underprivileged children via affordable tablets (at the cost of USD 50). Through LearnSyria project, the initiative is partnering with The Syrian Kids Foundation, who runs the Al-Salam School in a Syrian refugee camp, in Reyhanli. The Al-Salam School is using Rumie Tablets which contain a full curriculum of Syrian e-textbooks (modified version of Syrian curriculum approved by Turkey Governemnt), video lessons from Nafham and Tahrir Academy, educational games tailored to each grade and other open source materials. The Rumie initiative is currently planning to scale up provision in Turkey and Lebanon.
